Organizations seeking to sponsor COP28 UAE will be required to submit their commitments to net zero and climate action as part of their sponsorship applications:
- International organizations interested in sponsoring COP28 UAE need to be a member of the Race to Zero pathway or will make a public Race to Zero pledge with credible net-to zero transition plans by 2030 and 2050 based on Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) relevant to the specific sectors.
- Domestic organizations need to be a member of Race to Zero OR (a) join the UAE’s Climate-Responsible Companies Pledge and (b) the Capacity Building Pathway. The Bar-To-Entry criteria will leverage the UAE pledge, and the planned Pathway will increase knowledge and build capabilities for their net zero pathway and just transition.
The COP28 Sponsorship Committee, appointed an independent third party, EY, the global professional services consultancy, to validate the commitments required for both avenues and provide technical advice to COP28. The COP28 Sponsorship Committee then reviews and assesses the applications before deciding on sponsorship approval.
