Teachers for the Planet: Building a Policy-Practice Interface for Supporting Countries to Advance Climate Education Policy Design and Implementation

8 Dec

14:00-17:00 GST

Under the Greening Education Partnership, more than 70 countries have committed to including climate change education in their national curricula over the next three years. Given this commitment, the challenge is now to design climate education policy and implementation in ways that are ambitious, realistic, and inclusive. Fortunately, the insights and experiences of trailblazing climate educators provide many of the answers – at RewirEd Summit, Teachers for the Planet is launching 100 outstanding teacher-led and -tested local climate education solutions. In this session, we will bring together a pioneering group of Ministries of Education to co-create with these trailblazing educators from Teachers for the Planet through a new ‘’Policy-Practice Translational Mechanism” at the country level to prove a simple, but important hypothesis: Climate education policies informed by teachers will be better climate education policies for teachers and their students. To this end, we will unveil some inspiring climate education solutions, have Ministries of Education share their respective key challenges around realizing national climate education plans, and then engage in workshopping.
