From Agreement to Action: Harnessing 30x30 to Tackle Climate Change
Governments, Indigenous Peoples and local communities (IPLC), civil society, and private sector actors will come together to celebrate the adoption of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF) and take stock of progress towards its implementation one year from COP15 under the Convention on Biological Diversity. Looking at how governments are delivering their commitment to conserve, protect, and restore at least 30% of the planet’s land and ocean by 2030, and highlighting the contribution of leading non-state actors, this high-level event will underscore the importance of action on nature in delivering the goals of the Paris Agreement. It will also seek to unlock progress on the target of mobilizing USD$200 billion per year for biodiversity funding by 2030 and at least USD$20 billion per year in international biodiversity finance by 2025.
