Our focus at COP28 UAE is on delivering environmentally sustainable, socially responsible, delicious, and nutritious food and beverage. This is a key priority for the Presidency, and we are striving to show the world how climate-friendly food can be tasty, healthy and affordable.
We aim to cater for all dietary needs, ensuring two-thirds of the menus are vegan or vegetarian. Working with Nutritics, we aim to ensure that 50% of the food served within sustainable limits for carbon and water intensity and is within UAE nutritional guidelines. We are working with our F&B vendors and waste management partners to ensure minimizing waste and packaging through compositing and recycling is a priority.
We understand that this is a big challenge. An estimated 250,000 meals will be served to more than 70,000 participants across 70+ food and beverage outlets during COP28’s two-week program. But by working in close collaboration with our partners and promoting the use of local and regional suppliers, our catering aims to respect, embrace, and exemplify the values of the UNFCCC and UAE, simultaneously celebrating the nation’s rich culture and hospitality.
