More than 13,000 local governments - representing more than one billion people and some 2.3GtCO2e of annual emissions reductions by 2030 - have committed to climate and sustainability action through the Global Covenant of Mayors. However, crucial gaps in knowledge and capacity that prevent implementation persist. The Innovate4Cities implementation showcase highlights examples of co-creation and collaboration that respond to the need for transformative climate action across the thematic areas of resilience, decarbonization, and advanced data.
