Cutting down the low-hanging fruit: Financing the methane abatement

6 Dec

15:00-15:45 GST

In order to stay on track for midcentury net-zero emissions goals, methane emissions from oil and gas must be brought to near-zero by the end of this decade. Abating methane is often a profitable business opportunity, but in some cases, it requires enabling finance for emerging and developing markets to provide more capital spending. Financial institutions also must incorporate methane abatement into their lending practices. How can financing methane abatement be scaled? What is the upside for parties involved, including operators and financiers?
