Climate change is causing rising temperatures and more frequent heatwaves has reduced global food security and impacted individual livelihoods, hindering efforts to meet the Sustainable Development Goals. Recognizing the adaptation and mitigation benefits of sustainable cooling, the COP28 Presidency is spearheading the Global Cooling Pledge with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) led Cool Coalition as a delivery partner. This Pledge intends to raise ambition and international cooperation through collective targets for reducing emissions, improving energy efficiency and climate-friendly approaches to cooling, and increasing access to sustainable cooling for the vulnerable.
