Leaders' Event: Protecting Nature for Climate, Lives, and Livelihoods
Conference I The science is clear: There is no pathway to achieve the ambition of the Paris Agreement without nature, from both adaptation and mitigation perspectives. This event will focus on breakthroughs in political leadership and financing to protect and sustainably manage critical ecosystems, in particular forests, mangroves, and the ocean, as framed by the landmark Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, Glasgow Leaders' Declaration on Forests, and the Biodiversity Beyond National Jurisdiction Agreement. Leaders from nature-rich countries will highlight new, path-defining nature-climate investment plans and initial financing partners and mechanisms, while also partnering with local and Indigenous communities, with a through-line to COP30 for climate, nature, and people.
